Colin Harbinson

Colin Harbinson

Dr. Colin Harbinson was born in London, England, and has been involved in many varied aspects of the arts, missions and education for 40 years. Colin created the internationally acclaimed production Toymaker & Son that has been performed in over 70 countries. Dayuma, another of his internationally performed productions, completed a successful 21 city tour of the United States in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

Recognized internationally as a pioneer and leader in his field, Colin’s work as a writer, director and producer has won numerous industry awards, including the prestigious Golden Halo Award from the Southern California Motion Picture Council.

Colin received his education at Sussex University, Brighton, England, and became the headmaster of a public school in Horsham, Sussex. He left a career in the English education system to join Youth With a Mission, and directed the Academy of Performing Arts in Ontario, Canada. He subsequently served as the International Dean of The College of the Arts at the University of the Nations. He was awarded an honorary doctorate (DD) for lifetime achievement in the arts in 1995.

Colin is the Founder and President of the International Festival of the Arts that pioneered Sacred Fire, the first East-West arts festival in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Love Without Borders festival in Sofia, Bulgaria. The Ode to Joy festival in Kunming China involved over 700 artists from 21 countries and was the largest international arts festival of its kind in the history of that nation.

Dr. Harbinson is a sought after teacher and conference speaker who has lectured around the world. He chaired the Redeeming the Arts Issue group for the 2004 Forum in Thailand, and was appointed Senior Associate for the arts with the Lausanne Movement. He is the former editor of the Creative Spirit, a journal on the arts and faith, and until recently was Dean of the Arts at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi.

Colin is currently the International Director of StoneWorks, a Belhaven College arts initiative. StoneWorks is a global arts partnership for cultural reformation and the recovery of the imagination in the life and mission of the Church.

In 2008, Colin and his wife Maureen celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They have two sons and three grand daughters.

Nina Åström is a singer/songwriter from Finland, married to Benni, mother of two
grown-up daughters. MA (English philol.), worked in around 20 countries during
some 20 years.
Numerous TV and radio appearances, represented Finland in the Eurovision Song
Contest in 2000. In the more recent years concerts in prisons, especially in Russia.
Her new album “The way we are” was released earlier this year.
